Unhappy Ordered BrakeSmart

Ordered my Brakesmart yesterday. Holy *****... them puppies cost some jing! Looked at other controllers and from what I read here, decided to bite the bullet. Web site says they're behind with orders, don't know if that's still true or not.

I'll be searching the archives for installation tips.

Got a pretty good deal on the hitch (Reese pro-series w/slider) so figured I'd jump on the Brakesmart bandwagon.

Hitch install on Monday, Line-X over the rails on Wednesday, buy 5'er sometime within next few weeks....(file bankruptcy following week ) (kidding)

You won't regret buying the BrakeSmart. I think it is worth every penny. Also sounds like they should be shipping again soon. Installation is pretty straight forward. The instructions are on their website. You're gonna love this thing.

If you get your hitch installed on Monday and Line-X on Wednsday they will either have to pull your rails to spray or spray around them. I had them pulled on my first truck and they will charge you extra to do that. I didn't want them to spray up to them. They also lost one of my spacers and I had to drive back to the RV place to get another. Then back to the Line-X place to have them install it.
Any way thats my two cents.

Good luck! Usta

Brake Smart

I had them spray the Rhino Linings over the 5th-Wheel Hitch rails; they just masked off the area where the hitch itself sits on the rails. Looks good, and the hitch still sits metal-to-metal.

You are gonna be glad you went with the Brakesmart, just the best controller made that money can buy

He has been a little behind on shipping, his wife has been battling cancer so naturally he is juggling time to the very best of his abilities.

It only took a couple of weeks to get mine & that message was on their site when I orderd. Installed it on a thursday & made a weekend camping trip of four days on friday. Really like the way it acts in unison with the truck brakes. Stops just like my semi truck does, no lag time.

I e-mailed them a few days ago about how long the delay is, and he said he has been told that manufacture will be pushed back to around March 21st.

I went ahead and put in my order.... It'll be handy to have that bill on the next credit card cycle, anyway.

P.S. Sorry Bob... I've just got to see if these are as good as everyone who owns one says.

Ordered BrakeSmart

So, share! What's so great about a BrakeSmart controller? I know for certain I don't like the brake controller I'm using - I can't even tell you what brand it is. Pretty sure it's the cheapest out there because that's what the local RV shop installed when I had 'em install the 5th wheel hitch.

I printed out the installation instructions for the BrakeSmart, and it appears that a connection is made dierectly to the brake master cylinder. Does that enable the controller to sense just *how much* brake pressure is being applied? If so, that's quite a bit better than the off/on of a brake-light-actuated controller.

Anyone care to type out some information regarding the BrakeSmart? I might be interested, but the boys at BrakeSmart sure ain't giving them away!

Thanks in advance...

Pat in San Diego

Hey Fiver...
Got my Jordan from the UPS guy this afternoon. Won't be able to install until next week sometime, as I'm off to Dallas bright and early tomorrow. Looking forward to it. Feel free to pass along any installation tips...

Holler at me when you get started if you have a problem. There are some tips on tweaking it to make it squeeky smooth. You're gonna love it, especially if you are moving from a time base - - yeh, even a Prodigy.
