This is kinda funny but Apples to Oranges...maybe?

OK, we have a 2005 F-350 dump that my uncle bought for tax reasons, best deal on a dump so he went with it, came (told him to at least get a diesel if he was going Ford) with the 5.4...
Last summer I had to drive it back and forth from the slag yard with loads of #57...
Total scale weight was 13,000 lbs loaded, and the truck could barely get out of its own way... barely made it to 45mph on the same road I took today with the ol Cummins...
Now I have a SRW 2500... considerably less "beefy" than the F-350...
My total scale weight was 10,000lbs - yeah a ton and a half shy of what I carried in the Ford, and with a diesel engine... but it drove like it was unloaded!
How does the Cummins "know" there is a load behind it?
The reason I'm posting this now is because I never weigh my loads, and never knew how close my weight was to the Ford...
