New Wiring Brakes Dragging

I just installed trailer wiring onto my 07. Problem is that the trailer brakes are now dragging badly. The brake controller is not recognizing that there are brakes to control according to the readout on the controller. However, all trailer lights are working properly. I am using a 6pin to 7 pin adaptor, I know that these adaptors pins can be switched around, but am not sure if I need to do this. Has anyone had to do this before with an adaptor? This is really beginning to get to me......HELP!

The adapter is likely your problem. There are east coast and west coast adapters. Usually the charge and brake pins are switched. If you can take it apart, you can just swap the pins back.

That's exactly what happens when you have the wrong 6-pin adapter. The power and brake wires are swapped (A & S). You can swap them or buy the correct adapter.

This explains how 6 pin and 7 pins are wired, and how some 6 pins have the two switched...

Reverse adapters were a bad idea from the drawing board. Often the hot wire and the auxiliary wire get mixed up. You still have one less wire.
