On my '03 Dualy the brakes are dragging. You have to give it a lot of fuel to get it to move, and as soon as you let off you can feel the truck slow down like you were pressing the brakes slightly. So I drove for about 3 miles and the front brakes heated up so bad they were smoking. The pedal feels diffent now it seems a lot tighter. Anyone ever had this or have an idea what would cause this. Thanks!

 

Drums or disc in the rear?

 

All Disc, they all seem to be draging, I had new rotors and pads put in the rear about 6000 miles ago.

 

Did you jack up the front and rear and check each wheel to see if they are all dragging?

 

Is your power steering still the same?

 

Did you check the parking brake cable to see if it felt tight? It should be run in the driver's side of the frame, pull on it to see if it is still tight with it disengaged.

I would first chcke the parking break and then determine if it is one wheel or all of them. If it is all of the wheels then I would lean tward the master cylinder.

 

front brakes were smoking, parkbrake is working good.

 

Could be a bad caliper. Can you figure out which wheel it is?

 

Front driver side I I'm leaning toward a stuck caliper. I'll check it out tomorrow.

 

I'm going to check the rubber lines also. My brake fluid looks fairly dark, do you think contamination would be the problem.

 

The orifaces in the lines aren't that small, I would lean tward a bad or overextended caliper. Did you change the pads or did someone else?
