Max weight rating for a 16" "E" rated tire
A friend is buying a toyhauler with tripple 7k axles. The trailer is equipped with 16"LT tires, load rating 'E'. I didn't think 6 'E' rated tires would be enough. Anyone know how many pounds an 'E' tire is rated for?
Thanks!
So 3042# x 6 = 18,252#.
That would be correct is he was getting the stock 6k axles but he is going with the 7Ks. 21,000#. I wonder if the manufacture will up the tires or if its even really needed. The trailer is max rated for 18k, he just want the 7k axles for the added safety factor.

An LT or light truck tire is rated for 3042 lbs. while the trailer tire or ST is rated for 3500 lbs. The true trailer tire is an ST23580R16E some are better than others, we prefer the Titan made in the U.S. of A.
Bigger is not always better. Make sure the tire is approved for your rim contour. The strongest sixteen inch trailer wheel made is 16x6 3750 lbs. at 110 psi. A 265 tire needs at least a 7" bead seat. The strongest 7" bead seat is 3045 lbs. at 80 psi, unless you get an eastern orient company to put any rating you wish on the wheel.
