Looking for a source for laws

I'm debating the pros and cons of a Class A RV as opposed to a trailer. One of the things that I'm considering is whether a passenger can sleep while I drive. Can anyone point me to a source for determining the legality of having a passenger in a trailer while traveling in various states?

Thanks in advance.

I am no RV'er but I do know its a federal law that no passengers are allowed in a trailer while its in transport.

As far as an RV goes, it should be just like a sleeper on a class 8 truck. If it has a safety net then you can sleep as long as its buckled.

I have been know to be wrong before so dont rely on this information.

In most states it is illegal for anyone to ride in a towed trailer. Goodsam.com used to have a link that showed state by state laws. I've talked to people that have done it and I guess it is an experience they don't want to repeat. Very bumpy and noisy ride. Everything rattles.
