Looking for a key on 12v source

I just spent 30 minutes on my back with a meter looking for a key on 12v source and couldn't find one.

2005 CTD...can someone point me to the right, easily accessible wire under the dash above the brake pedals were I can splice in for a Key on 12v?

i got an 07, but might be the same.....i got mine from the cig lighter-pink wire. just pop off the stereo bezel(includes stereo and air vents). it comes off in one whole piece. no bolts just pops in and out...kinda scary at first, but just give it a decent tug and you will see what i mean.

I checked my fuse block and found empty fuse slot 37 to be hot , key on only.... took me a few minutes with a multi meter to locate, but easier than finding the wire for the ciggy lighter. I think there are different circuits for different locations of power outlet/ ciggy lighters as well.

You can always run a line up to the fuse box too. Plenty of empty spots in there. It isn't too hard when you are running lines for gauges.

The cig lighter is easy to get at as well.

I had not though about the cig lighter....I was hoping for an easy wire to splice and not needing to drop any panels....but if I am going to drop a panel...the cig lighter sure is easy enough.

I suppose then I can also had my boost controller in the ash tray

My cig lighter didnt work.

Had my gauges all buttoned up, went for the madien voyage and cranked it up, nothing....

Turned out my cigarette lighter doesnt work.

Tapped into the pink with white tracer under the column, its in a bundle of several wires under the column. Checked it with a test light, bingo, works like a charm.

Took me 10 minutes out on the driveway to get it all buttoned up and now my boost fooler is wired in and working
