Just a little tow story

One day I went out and jumped in the truck and chunk, the batteries wouldn't turn the engine over. Well I look at the odo and it says 35964, cool, 36 miles left on the warranty. So the wifes go in and calls up the dealer and they say," no problemo", we'll send a flat bed and pick it up, no charge. Alright. Well we live about 25 miles out of town and evenually and tow truck shows up. It's not a flat bed, just a hook, and this guy wants to just drag it all the way to town. Well my wife loves the truck as much as I do and she tells him to take a hike. Go back and get a flat bed. Well he gets PO'd but leaves and a while later another guy shows up with a 6 wheel flat bed (Ha Ha). He backs up to the rear of my truck and starts putting chains on it and I tell him this is a cummins and he might want to pick it up from the front because it's really heavy. Oh no it's OK, I can handle it. So we just watched as he tried to get it off the ground. So much weight in the rear that his front wheels came off the ground. I told him to turn it around but he was a "tow truck driver" and knew what he was doing. Yeah right. Well I'll give him credit, he did finally get it up on the truck but he was so top heavy and with my cummins hanging off the rear of his truck his front wheels were barly touching the road but he knew what he was doing. Yeah right. I figured that I'd be getting a new truck out of the deal but some how he made it and I got 2 new batts. No charge. Sometimes you just have to wonder "what the heck where they thinking"?

Stop by my place Sunday Morn. Get here about 7:30 am. It's about 13 miles up and down these 40er mule trails, takes 25 minutes if in a hurry, 30 plus if you never been there. Can't be late for choir practice at 8:00 am.

I have a company truck I drive to work, so my own pickups don't get driven alot! Just on the weekends and on vacations.

Moparior, it might be cheaper for you to have a standing rental agreement with Avis for a wekend car. Looks like some lucky sole got a super nice used truck.

Re:Just a little tow story

Hey, what's with the slammin' of us low mileage drivers??? You think his mileage is low, I've just gone over 10k for a 2001.5 purchased on 10/2/01. 8) Yes, it's a daily driver, just don't have to drive that far. Well, the new work location will add some miles (now 70 miles round trip 4x a week). Course, I've been told I need to get a life. What with all these people running around and braggin' how they got 100's of thousands in such a short time, I'm wondering who's in need of a life . At least I'm more at home than on the road. ;D ;D I always give a wave at another Cummin's because I've just met another smart person. ;D

~Dave
