Watch Your Weight in Georgia
Watch Your Weight in Georgia
I was headed up Highway 247 to Macon earlier this afternoon and saw the Georgia Highway Safety (former DOT) guys weighing a one ton truck pulling a loaded flatbed. There were no commercial markings on the truck. I'm sure they checked his fuel for dye also since they've checked mine before a little further south of here. Just letting you guys know, if you are passing through the Peach State, better be within the weight limits of your truck and don't use the off road fuel.

Georgia has been doing that around Augusta too...I got stopped on hwy 25 south of Augusta with my empty 53 ft they checked weight and fuel and my log book and all my lights :-[ they said its because of complains about logging trucks speeding and being over weight

Pappyman, I know you ain't haulin' no logs. Are you?
I was talking to one of those guys while we were inspecting containers coming off the port last summer and they told me they had added 116 new officers to do road side enforcement (not established scales). They have to generate quite a bit of revenue to pay for that.

That's not nice, What makes you think we all eat donuts... Personally I have bigger fish to fry than worrying about a guy trying to make a living driving a truck. Although I did pull over a guy with a 03 3500 dually so that I could hear the engine. ;D Scared the poor guy when I told him he needed a CDL and that he could run and get away while I was taking it for a spin. Bad popo....

Re:Watch Your Weight in Georgia
I see nothing's changed in Georgia in 50 years. We were trucking green tomatos from PA to FL years back. Suddenly my buddy's headlights began backing up in my mirrors. I stopped down the road at a diner. He came in half an hour later. He had noticed a car pull in behind his trailer that turned the lights out - a favorite trick of the smokies back then. He saw a plantation railroad crossing ahead (he sometimes carried haz mat and had a sign that the truck stopped at all RR crossings) at the last second he hit emergency stop. He did - they didn't until the car was half way under his tailgate. Darn the luck - following too close and not under control. HeeHeeHee.
