Honda generators (silent)

Anyone have any feedback on these? I want one and I don't know if I need the EU1000i, 2000i, or 3000i.

I tow a 35' trailer and go camping every chance I get.
Thanx people.

I would suggest getting this thread moved to the trailer/RV forum.....there is often lots of generator talk there with many knowledgable guys.

Awesome generators! A little pricey but as the saying goes: "You get what
you pay for". We have the EU1000i that I use to re-charge my batteries when
we go "DRY" camping. I would recommend the 3000 if your going to be dry
camping and using your A.C. and appliances. You wo'nt be sorry with the
Honda generators. Hope this helps.

First I want to thank a moderator for moving my thread. I did not even know we had an RV section. I have a friend that has a 3000 that he said he would sell me for $1300. It might be overkill for me, I never really go camping anywhere where I need to use A/C (I live in the desert and get enough heat at home). But I wanted to price out new ones with extended warranties. I would probably never need a warranty with a Honda. I think the 3000 is quieter than the 1000 or 2000, but not sure.

Thanx.

great little generators.. IMO the 3k is a little small for running an AC on a trailer mine is 15k Coleman and it seemed to lag too long at start up and if anything else was on when it started it threw the breaker. I moved up to the Honda EU6500is not as portable as the smaller units but very quiet dealer was great gave me full credit on the 3000is after 2 weeks of use. The Honda's run much quieter than just about anything out there.

Another to consider is The Yamaha it too is very quite.

A friend of mine has the 3000i and loves it. He can turn on every thing in his 5th and run the AC and can have a conversation with generator right next to us.

It is on my want list.

I have a Kipor 3500. It is a Honda clone. I wouldent have normaly bought a Chinesse nock off but it was thrown in for free with the camper. It is Ultra quiet and has enough juice to run the AC or the Microwave but not enough to run both. It will also run the electric watter heater. I had a glich with the gas portion of the watter heater while boondocking last year and had to use the generator to power the heater to take showers and such. i would recomend the 3000 minimume as you never know when you will need the extra power.

Lots of options. Some use the 3k but many buy 2 2k and run them in parallel. I like the 2k option because they are easier to carry, the 3k is more than 100 lbs.

Depends on if you want to run the A/C and micro at the same time. If not, start with one 2k and camp with it. See what it does and does not do for you. If you need more, buy another 2k and hook 'em together.

One thing is for sure, you can keep 'em for a couple years and still sell 'em for what you paid. Hondas are almost never sold at much of a discount but people buy 'em like mad.

They really are quiet and work like a charm. You won't be disappointed.

What he said. With 2 2k units you can run just 1 when you only need a little power and run both when 1 is not enough. It will also save on gas that way. and when you need it you have up to 4k to power everything you want.

Hondas are great but as many have already mentioned they do cost alot. I had the e2000's in parallel but still had issues with the start up of my A/C so I went with the e6500. It cost $3500.00 but has enough power to run everything in the camper and then some.

I have a Kipor 3500ti that I bought for $900 and I'm very happy with it. Runs my microwave and 15k btu AC without any trouble, but I haven't tried to run both at the same time. I'd say the Kipor is the best value in RV (meaning quiet) generators. I like the idea of the dual Honda units, but two Honda eu2000s with parallel kit will cost about $1900 new and nearly the same for a used set. But for $1300 that eu3000 is a good deal.

I will throw another option in.I just bought a Champion 2850 watt generator from Costco. It cost me $400.00 CDN and it runs like a charm. It is a Honda knockoff the same in a Honda here in Canada would be 2500 to 3000 cdn i bought it for the occasional boondocking and if you google this generator you won't find unhappy customers. You can get get a 3500 model from Cabellas in the US XCheers

Honda E3000 is one that I saw in Bristol a few years back that I didnt even know it was running. Had to be the most quiet generator I have ever heard.
