Home made wheel chocks

Not sure if anyone has seen these home made wheel chocks so I though I'd pass them along.

I made some similar to that, except I used pipe clamps from Harbour Freight and a piece od gas pipe. Alot easier to take off and put on.

I made similar ones but used a butterfly nut to make tightening them a bit easier.

Looks like a poormans Rotochok(R)

I've seen them done on the RV forum with success, much better than standard choking methods as far as stabilizing a trailer goes.

Thanks.

I have been aiming to make me a set, ever since I saw the store-bought ones.

Looking at those pictures has inspired me to at least go out in the shop and pick out some suitable wood scraps.

For years, I have been carrying a pair of double-ended wedge-style chock-blocks.

I took a length of oak 6x6, layed it against the trailer-tires, and drawed the opening between the tires on the block.

I sawed to the lines, and made a second block, duplicate to the first.

With these stuck between the tires, it cannot move fore or aft.

Is there a site that goes along with those pictures that has more good ideas ?? Never mind, I found it.

Those look great and should work well. You may find that an LVL material may be more durable and resist splitting/checking. LVL is available at better lumberyards. Kurt
