Hitch Upgrade For 3rd Gens?

Is there a upgrade for the trailer hitch for the 3rd gens that goes in place of the stock hitch so you don't have to have 2 hitches showing?

I went with the Putnam XDR. You have to cut off the reciever portion of the hitch (leaving the cross member. It makes for a much more solid hitch in my opinion. I did this on my 2007 as well as my past 2005.

I went to an aftermarket rear bumper, had it built up and reinforced for better strength and towing capacity, removed the stock hitch and stock bumper alltogether, kind of a total replacement of two for one.

I also have the Putnam Class V XDR; it is a great and very stout hitch but I heard Putnam went out of business so not sure if that helps you

Any other options? The stock hitch can get overloaded fairly easy.

There are others but I have the putnam. I'll have to remember to snag this one when if I sell my truck. So nice, looks stock and 16,000lb capacity.

There are others, try hitches.com

I refuse to get one that hangs down below the stock hitch. I want something that looks factoy but is heavy duty. I don't see why that is such a problem to make as I always could get one for my Fords.

I have the torkilft. I've had it for the last year and no issues. I have yet to FULLY load it, but on the 28" extension I have ~5k and had no issues.

It is a double tube, and I used to think it looked a little dorky, but I got over it. I actually like the 2nd receiver tube hanging down: It helps to add a barrier to someone rear-ending my truck. Not much, but it helps.

This does look like the way to go. Reasonably maxes out any crazy load I would suppose.
