Hauling car back from Michigan

real quick, guy wants me to haul a 62 comet back from michigan. He is gonna ride with me, will pay for all fuel, my question, how much is good for my time? The trip is, he said, 550 miles each way. What do you experienced haulers think?

well, most guys are getting 2 bucks a loaded mile. But if hes buying your fuel, that throws that out of wack. ok lets do a little math.

550 loaded miles
divided by lets say 12 mpg.
= 45 gallons
X 3.15 for fuel (thats what it is around here)
= 142 bucks

now lets say if he wasnt buying your fuel, youd get 1100 bucks if it was 2 dollers a loaded mile. (a little steep to me)

that would leave you with about 950 bucks. which is crazy high if you ask me.
So just what ever you think your truck, trailer, and time is worth.

Just remember, you have to have enough to buy your fuel on the way back, and justify the time and cost on the whole trip.

I would think somewhere around $300 with him buying all fuel, food, tolls, hotel and any other road related expenses for the trip would be fair to both of you.

I sure would like to get $2 a mile. For people in the auto trade, like dealer's and so fourth, the AVERAGE price is .50 a mile per car. A little more if you can get it. A little more than that to induvidual's. That's real world price's based on central dispatch.com, where I get my load's. If there is a place paying more,,,,I'm listening.

Is this for a freind of your's.

If he pays for fuel up and back + 300 bucks I would day you have a deal. Remember, your insurance is covering his vehicle while its on your trailer, I hope????

He said last night 300-400 dollars is what he was thinking. A friend of mine around the house said he would'nt do it for that. I don't know though, It'll be maybe a day of "work" for $400? That's not bad. Not a friend, aquaintence or however you spell that word....actually the guy who sold me my truck, salesman.
