GN Trailer clearance ???

This may be kind of a dumb question, so I am putting on my flame suit as I type. I just bought a gooseneck car hauler and have a shortbox dodge with a large toolbox in the front of the bed, my question is how much clearance do I need between the hitch post and the tool box? I have about 3 in. I thought for road travel it would be ok.I dont plan on any ravine crossings, is there a recommended clearance for forward movement? Thanks in advance for any help.

The measurement of three inches is level from the post to the top of the box when hitched. Just kinda wondered if any one ever ran one that tight before. Nice toolbox CRR, I am also a bit jealous of the space. Mine seems tight to me to, though it will just be highway driving, from NC through Texas to Idaho. Thanks for the response guys.

Get a off set ball or a off set gooseneck, really, in stock form the shortbed's have the hitch way to close to the cab.

The ball is a B&W rollover, Could look into offset hitch. Probably have to find something to run over to check it or just get rid of the box. I could post pics in the morning if they will help, but you can probably picture it already. I can't see it leaning that far forward, but they didn't write Murphys Law for no reason. Thanks again and forgive my ignorance this is my first GN.

Here is what welndmn is talking about:

Click on the accessory tab to the right of the pic. and look for the "4" Extender"

we have a short bed at work that pulls gn's all the time with only about 3in of clearance. Just keep an eye on it if your goin through a dip. We did get one small ding on the tool box.

Have not had to much time to check back here, but I hooked up and took a test drive. Not too bad...but with the hieght of the box I loose a bit of turning radius that I might neeed, so I changed out the box. Thanks for your time and info, I was not aware of the extender (cause I didnt research or listen good enough) I will definately be getting one. I appreciate ya all takin the time to help out THANK YOU. Kell
