First Dune trip of the season

Did a day trip to the Buttercup Dunes (ca-mexico border), from Phoenix yesterday. Left Phoenix at 2am, arrived at the Dunes at 5am, rode hard 'til noon, by then it was getting pretty hot. My boy (15) and I had a great time.

Didn't tow much, just two Quads on a 5x14 flatbed trailer, so the mighty Cummins wasn't really challenged, but I'm really pleased with the fuel mileage, 17.2 mpg with cruise set at 78 mph an A/C on. Same trip, same load last year got us 14.5 mpg, now that the truck's got about 20k on it it's not only running stronger, it's burning less fuel too.

For those who are less than excited about the fuel mileage on their new Cummins, all I can say is be patient, it'll happen!
