Thanks for the advise and opinions. I've made my mind up, a 14 footer GN. Now if I can find one that I can afford (new) or not beat to pieces (used). Nat
Ihave a Big Tex low rider 14' tandem scisser dump, the lower sides allow me to use 40-50hp class tractor with loader. The high side tr.eliminates the smaller tractor for loading over the sides, also when you drive your tractor into the tr. it is much lower to the ground making it safer, the only problem I have is the pump isn't strong enough to dump a full load of crushed limestone,I have to start by pulling part of the load off with the tractor in order to dump.

Thanks for the reply Sherman. That's what I'm talking about!
Did you buy it new or used? How old is it? Does it have dual wheels on tandem axles or singles? Is it a 14k GVW rating? Big Tex was on my top four list. What do you suspect as the problem for the low pressure at the ram, the small pump or something else? The trailers I've looked at have a GPM rating on the pump, mind sharing what your pump is? Big Tex brochure claims theirs are beefier than much of the competitors.
Sorry for all these questions, if it doesn't do all the things I promised Teresa it will do, she says I will be sleeping in it.
Thanks again,
Nat

I have the Big Tex model 14gd-14,14000# tandem axle, single wheel (235/85/16 load rating E),purchased new in the summer of 02.The pump tag is not readable,I believe the reason the pump can't dump is the box is propably over loaded, wet limestone can go 3000 to 3500# per yard, when I'm hauling crushed limestone I heap the box,I buy by the load,I'm afraid to go over the scales,if they see the wt I will have to buy per ton.If I keep the load to the rear then the box can dump,I also haul sawdust ,shavings and tractors.Hope this answers your guestions.

Nat... You're only 3 hours away from Ramseur, where Kaufman has their headquarters...

http://www.kaufmantrailersales.com/dump.htm

(There are actually prices on their site, too!)

Alot of people I know have Kaufman car haulers, and have nothing but good things to say.. Just because I'm ****, I'd replace all the connections where they use scotch-locks for a better quality in-line butt connector with some weatherproofing wrap.
