Daimler Chrysler's Response to Gooseneck Question
Daimler Chrysler's Response to Gooseneck Question
I think the following dialogue is interesting, even if DC did not answer most of my questions.

My Questions:

I need information on how one is to install a gooseneck hitch in the new 2003, 3500 dually Ram pickup
Comments:
---------
I just ordered a new 2003 Ram, 3500 SLT, Long bed, diesel 4x4 dually. I am having difficulty understanding what the frame will be so that I can order the appropriate gooseneck hitch to have installed in the truck bed. Are there holes provided in the new frame to fasten hitches, or will one have to use clamps around the tubular frame??? I assume drilling and welding into the new frame is not advisable, is that correct? Have you thought about the thousands of people buying this truck who will want to tow a trailer? What does the platform provide to do so? Hitch companies seem to be all over about this new platform. I want the strongest possible connection to the platform without having to make any modifications of the platform. Can something be added to my order which was only made last week to have preparations made at the factory for such a hitch installation go smoothly? Thanks. Bill

DC Response:

Dear Bill:

Thank you for your email regarding your new Dodge Ram.

DaimlerChrysler does not have any application or direction for installing a fifth wheel hitch. (Of course I was talking about a Gooseneck)

However, we do have a company we recommend you go to for advise or parts. I have provided there information below.

B & W Towing
800-248-6564
http://www.turnover.com

Thank you for writing.

Sincerely,

Kevin Venet
Senior Staff Representative
DaimlerChrysler Customer Assistance Center

So, there we are folks. It looks like clamp ons are in for this year. Anyone who wants to pursue this ,please do so and tell us what you find out.

MrBilly

Re:Daimler Chrysler's Response to Gooseneck Question
Much better.
No wonder we can't get a decent lift pump or auto tranny. :
D/C's looking at the wrong websites. :
If they want Italian....try this:
D/C che desideriamo 4 portelli reali, voi sanno, una carrozza della squadra.
Translation anyone?
D/C we want 4 real doors, you know, a crew cab.
