Control Module problem 2006 Dodge 3500 Ram Quad Cab Diesel

Hello Gang,

Here is the scoop as told to me by a Dodge technician.

I have a right blinker signal on any connected trailer that will not activate the trailer's right blinker from the truck.

The fuses are good. The fault is a CONTROL MODULE under the fuse box that actually throws the right blinker off only ocassionally.

The Dodge tech says " the control module is krap ", and the service manager wanted me to replace the module for $ 600. The dodge technician took 5 minutes with a handheld device that plugs into the OBD II port and did what is called " clearing the code ". At that point the trailers right blinker works.

They only charged $ 75 for clearing the code, but 2 months later I am having the same problem.

I feel replacing a module that is " krap " would put me no better off, and I don't want to pay $ 75 each time to clear the code.

Keep in mind the " Engine Service Soon " light does not come on, therefore the OBD II hand held devices will not help me.

QUESTION : Is anyone famaliar with this problem, and does anyone know of a hand held device that will go into the ECU and clear this code ?

Thank for the help.

Your truck is a 06 and I assume still under warranty, why should you have to pay anything to get it fixed? I would take it to another dealer if you can and get a second opinion.
