Colibert gooseneck hitches

Has anyone ever used a Colibert gooseneck hitch??

I called my local hitch shop to ask about a B&W and they said they had pretty much stopped selleing them and they were reccomending this Colibert hitch..

It is much cheaper than a B&W Rated for 30,000# and has a fifth wheel adapter as well.

Has anyone used one of these??

Any info would be great.

I liked the Draw Tite Hitch in my '99 just fine but I figured a B&W was the way to go so I could get a fifth wheel if the need ever arises.

This seems to offer the same benefits but a differnt design at a cheaper price.

So I'm looking for oppinions and hands on experience with this product.

What kind of "fifth wheel adapter" does it have? A true 5th wheel hitch, or a gooseneck adapter that bolts to the 5th wheel trailer's pinbox?

I'm not sure this is the type of info I'm trying to find out... By what the lady said on the phone there is a seperate deal that fits back in the hole the gooseneck ball came out of witha fifth wheel plate. Similar to the B&W setup...

But I have never seen one so I don't know exactly how it works. That's why I'm asking for y'alls oppinion.

I use mine for a goose I know nothing about the 5th wheel, mine has a billet steel ball and the cross member plate is 1 inch thick.

Doesn't the ball thresd in or something though??

It's not like a removable pin that holds the ball in as in my Draw Tite or the B&W is it?

Ya it screws in you can remove and place a plug in.

I had the Colibert gooseneck hitch in my old truck (Chevy ). It was stout, but not near as convenient as the B&W I have now in my Dodge. I have not idea about the fifth wheel set up though. Have no need for one.

I'll tell you what, the 5th wheel setup sure looks slick on their webpage. Unlike B&W they even have a sliding 5th wheel hitch for us shortbed owners. The website didn't specify, so I have an email into Colibert to see if they have anything available for the '06 Megacab. If it's reasonably priced I'll probably end up with one.

I like my colibert because it does screw in I use to have one of those turnover hitched where the ball would just lay down but it would get stuck and I had to use a massive screwdriver everytime I wanted to pop it back up. And if I slipped I would go flyin out of the bed of the truck.

JD,

Where did you get your Colibert hitch? I want to buy one but the only dealer I have found is my local RV dealer, and I refuse to buy from them. Thanks!

I had towed with it probably 15 times and I finally decided to check that and got just a little more turn out of it when I cranked it, but ya you would want to check it.
