You all are just a bit like me in the sick humor department. I started reading this post because I too wanted a new brake controller and wanted to lean a little more. Boy was I wrong. Well maybe a little. I understand that you buy what you can afford, but can you afford not to buy the best when the life of one or more are involved? That is something we all need to look at. So with that I will look into the Maxbrake controller a little more than the P3

Chaikwa....HAMMER DOWN if you need to. LOL

I have always been told that the old hyd. units are not compatiable with the Anti-lock brakes.

That would be correct..

The Prodigy P2 and the P3 are good controllers. The same arguments used in stating that smartbrake or maxbrake is the best can be used on drum vs disc brakes or even tag vs 5vr/gn trailers..

Even with the best of everything accidents can and do happen.. The key element unfortunately is the nut behind the steering wheel

We used the old hyd units for years. When they started putting Anti-lock brakes on the rear axle only, we would plumb them into the front brakes. The last one I had leaked inside the unit and smoked, luckily I was not towing at the time. Hated the pendulum controllers, just could never find one that worked like we thought it should. Was recommended the Prodigy by a tech at Camping World and gave it a shot. My dad has had one for 7 years now and I just bought one a few weeks ago when I bought my 5ver. Have no complaints so far about their performance. I do not constantly adjust the settings on mine. It is set on b3 and I use the brakes in conjunction with downshifting to slow down. Most of the time if I am not in a power stop I barely use the trailer brakes, by slowing early and downshifting, but I am only pulling around 10k loaded. If I need to power stop it applies the full 13 v to the trailer locking the wheels up. I have tested it to make sure it works but fortunately have not actually needed to stop like that when pulling.

Oh my goodness - - this one is finally back on track without someone trying to smash our wonderful, outstanding (I don't know where he is standing, but somewhere), good looking (uhhh, well, looking anyway), janitor/moderator/contributor/hairy one. That calls for another cup of ph00 ...........

You are all right there, Scott - - I think you should run for president. And everyone said ?????????????? I CAN'T HEAR YOU!!!!!!!
