With a Maxbrake your trailer brakes act as an extension of you truck brakes, the other style controllers just never come close to it...period.
I won't argue that point, but I was talking about doing this on a budget as he was trying to do.

I was just about to order a Max when I spoted the one I have. Since I have been pulling trailers for 40 years with out a Max, or equal, I decided to just stay with the same concept. They work, if you have them set right. At my age, I'm getting ready to get rid of the wagon. I think I am almost done with trailers. Why put the money out for a short term. You know what I mean.

I was mearly pointing out these work, and fit the budget. If I were heavier than 10K, I would be using a more professional unit for sure though

i've run a tekonsha voyager in 3 pickups and had my gcw up to 32k they all have worked excellent for me with no failures. have not had any bad experience to make it worth 350 bucks for a different controller. but i've pulled thousands of miles with no controller or a trailer with no working brakes i just plan for the unexpected kid on the bike to jump in front of you and look a long ways ahead and keep the speed down when towing. defensive driving is more important than fancy expensive equipement. no sleeping behind the wheel guys

I have a class 1 with air brakes drivers license and I would never tow anything down the road that was not safe for the road.I have driven many miles and have seen some real stupid things that all the defensive driving and safety equipment don`t help with some of the crazy drivers on the road. I don`t tow my fiver fast and i`am happy towing at the posted limit on roads I have not traveled before .Having NO adjustments to make when towing sure makes Maxbreak great for me. It also will tell you what condition your breaks are in on the fiver from worn shoes to a bad magnet. No guessing that its safe to tow.Life is to short to take chances .Later Don T

So while you "look a long ways ahead" and the kid on the bike jumps in front of you NOT a long ways ahead, then what?

Oh don't misunderstand me. . . . I 100% agree. I haven't the bones to say anything like that yet.

When I replied like that I had something else in mind though. I say that all the time when I see a critter road kill. Ticks off my sweety pah

Disclaimer - Put down your drinks..

Not to stir up the pot or condone the use of trailers without brakes. But...

Your Thump Thump only covers the truck axles what about the trailer axles?

I thought about it as I typed, but figured I'd let the humor take it's course.

No I did not mean anything by it. Just siesed the moment.

It did get the point across though
