For B&W Hitch Users

I'm bored sittin here watchin the rodeo on TV and a commercial came on for B&W hitch. Ole boy just walks up pulls the lever, pops the ball out, turns it over and he's on his way. Don't get me wrong in this post I luv this hitch, but mine never works like that. I have to pull the lever a couple of times and jiggle it around to get it to lock, crawl my fat rump up into the bed and pry the ball out cause it's usually got hay packed around it or like tonight I went to use it and had it upside down, had to find a prybar to get it out of the hole cause it was frozen in and then had to use a screwdriver to get all the frozen hay out of the hole so it would lock. I wanna know is it just my luck or is it this much work for everybody.

I know your pain but mine aint frozen in its just usually "froze up" with mud dirt and the like. I dont know if yours is the same way but mines got a little bar in the bottom of the ball and usually I got a piece of rope on my toolbox rail and just run it under the bar and pull up like mad and it pops free. By the way if you dont mind me askin what are those B&Ws goin for these days not installed?

That's the bar I pry on. The price came down on them a little. They can be had for around $285 usually, give or take a little.

Pull the release lever and turn it to the right to lock it in the "unlocked" position. Turn it to the left and it pops back in place. Never had a problem with mine.

99...I'm responding for the same reason you posted.....But can relate with the question!
I have suffered all of the above!.....even the good....I think we need to clean them and a bit of lube once in awile....I haul hay occasionaly without a problem and the dogs ride back there so not to much grit gets into it..My neighbor hauled some sand and yikes....it was stuck...lay a piece of cardboard over it and it doesn't work into the joint. Ice.....hmmm don't know how to deal with that! Move to Arizona...LOL....It doesn't freeze that much where I'm at but I could see that to be a problem! Sometime you can't even get the truck doors open!.... I would clean it up and put a light lube on it.....giver it a try fo awile...Does B&W recomend any maintenence?

Methanol. I carry a jug in my jockey box for other things on the farm. I don't have a B&W, but I promise it'll work for any kind of ice.

If you're refferring to a B&W hitch, then yes, I recommend it. Very simple bolt on install and is one of the best rated hitches on the market. It took me and a bud around 2.5-3 hrs for the install, and that being our first one, plus we were taking our time and it was at night. I highly recommend this product.
