On EBAY I saw a guy who had a vintage Airstream trailer set up with a gooseneck - didn't look bad at all. I have my 44' enclosed gooseneck - put running lights (the type small trailer have on top of their fenders // amber and red) at the very end so at least I could find the back of the trailer when I was turning at night - largest Airstream-type trailers (all bumper pulls) are 34', and they are pretty heavy rigs. My FL70 would have no issue, but even for my RAM I think that would be a bit much hanging off the rear.

I use to pull the 40' park models and never really had a problem, just make sure you use a good sway control and you load bars.

We went back to the RV lot yesterday, found a 5er that works
http://www.fleetwoodrv.com/brandtomo.../adv&m=345BHTS ,way more$$$$ then the BP. They lets us took the BP trailer for a tow, wasnt to bad back there, different thats for sure. They had a real nice 5th to GN setup that they well give me if we get the 5th wheel. I still need to do some thinking on all this, and thanks for the help so far.

A pullrite or hensley hitch will make the long bumper pull trailer feel lihe a fifth wheel. wont kill the resale value like modifying the hitch. probably less money than the move up to the gooseneck. bumper pull probably will cut less wind and pull at a better mpg.

Ive been contemplating converting my BP to a GN. Its a 30 foot toy hauler and they claim it has 1200 pounds of toung weight. That is a very conserative number. I brought it home with no WD hich and it brough the back of the truck down signifigantly. I bought a 1200 pound WD hitch and it helped but it still squates the truck prety good. I was talking to a freind at work that does custome fabrication at work all day and he thought up a great idea that would leave the camper hitch unmodified. You simply build a gossneck that comes up and over the tailgait and down to the level of the camper hich. It then has a crossmember with a ball on it to hook to the camper. Then there area a set of runners that go back paralel with the toung as far back as posible(to the front of the camper). There is anouther crossmember at the back of the runners that goes across over the top of the factory toung and clamps to the factory toung using U bolts. It acts just like a WD hitch and transfers the weight of the toung to the GN ball. It is completly removable and puts no more stress on the toung than a standard WD hitch. I was goan have him build it last winter and then kept putting it off. I think I may have him build it this winter. Will make it a lot esier and faster to hook up to and unhook. No messing with the WD and sway bar setup.

I knew someone on here would know more on hitches then the salesmen would. When I was asking them about different hitches for the BP those two
(pullrite or hensley hitch) never came up. The pullrite seems like the best choice for a big BP like the one we were looking at. Hummm now I have more thinking to do. The BP is a really good price and I now have a good hitch choice too go with that monster. The BP is still a brand new 06 never even off the lot till I took it for a three hour test pull the other day and they filled my truck with fuel so I could take it for a test pull when I was talking to the salesmen, so like I said a really good price. I like BP better in the fact that you dont have to watch your head when getting in and out of bed un-like most 5th wheels with the lack of standing room up at the top bed. Well I have monday off too, think I well go find someone selling pullright hitches.
Thanks for all the help on this, it sure is making things easier that for sure.

I don't know about a 39' - dang that's long!!!
I pull a 29' Springdale and it pulls just fine by me - I don't have the anti-sway system on it, just w/d. I am thinking about getting some airbags tho just to level things out when I have the 4-wheeler in the truck too..

i pull a 30' warrior with a hensley hitch and there is no issue whatsoever with wind or trucks or boats at legal speed, here it's 75mph. but, and this is a big but, when trying to manuever it becomes a bit of a challenge because of the inside track the trailer takes. at 40' this would be be something of an ordeal IMHO. good luck

I have the same problem, but it's only 39'8", been wondering how it will tow as well.
Haven't towed it yet, but someday I will.
Good luck and please keep us posted.
