Any tow a 39f bumper pull RV

My question who is pulling a 39' 9'' travel trailer(bumer pull) and how to you like it? whats it like back there? and whats it like to back up? I have pulled twenty foot cargo trailers but never one this big. Any tow a 39f bumper pull RV-38lfloorplan.jpg
My wife whats to trade our 5th wheel for this one she likes the floor plan. But I have no idea what its like to pull samething that big. I dont know if the RV lot would let me take it for a run to see if I like pulling it or not. Any input would help, I am not really scared to pull it, just want to know whats it like back there.

Hauled one that was 33'. It had the antisway bars at the hitch. Wasn't to bad but I would have to say a fith wheel is easier. Overall I think you will be all right. Just something you will have to get use to.

Antisway bars would be a must with that thing. I like 5th wheels better myself too. But I have the short box and to get a bunk house 5th there all so big on the noise. And I have a goose neck hitch in the bed of the truck so that messes me up for a sliding hitch, or does it? I could take the goose hitch out I dont think I well be using it any more but then I would have a big hole in the bed of the truck, it wont be hard to fix up. The reson for the swap in trailers is the 5th we have is pre-son so its not a bunk house wicth wasnt a big deal when he was small. Any ideas to what can be done about a hicth would help. There is so may hitches and styles out there maybe one of you guys can help me better than most salesmen can, that I do know.

Yeah, after the first semi that passes you @ 70 m.p.h. you'll need a pit stop to clean your pants - anti-sway bars or NOT. I used to pull Skyline/TT's that were over 40' including the hitch with a dually. The things were so long you couldn't even see the rear side clearance light in the mirrors. Mostly a two handed drive ALL the way, if ya know what I mean.

Speaking for myself, I don't think I'd feel comfortable pulling an enclosed bumper pull that large. Your wife will thank you later if you choose a fiver instead.

Im not a fan of pulling long trailers off the bumper either. You get into some slick conditions and you'll be beggin your wife to get the 5er back.

Did you keep the little plug cut out for the goose hitch? If so it should think it would be too tough to weld it in, and hide it under spray on bedliner.

Personally I think you would be happier with a 5th wheel if you need that much living space. It won't sway as much, will likely have huge basement storage, and would generally be easier to manage.

If you really like the trailer's floor plan better, and if you plan to park it someplace and fulltime in one spot all summer, then you might consider putting up with the handling of a big trailer (if it were only making 2 runs a year)...

Just my .02.

Not only do they pull bad, ever tried backing one into a tight space such as a campground at a NASCAR race?? Not saying its impossible, but what a hassle!!! I'd say stick with the 5'ver!!!!

I did keep the the piece of bed that they cut out for the Goose hitch install. My father had a idea that sounds not to bad but weird to me, he said that fixing the hole in the bed and getting a good sliding hitch would run up in price. So either get a long bed truck or convert the bumper pull to goose neck trailler for around $1500. He had phoned a few welding shops around town here and they all said it wouldnt be that hard to do. I really like pulling goose neck traillers, there so easy no sliding the hitch when backing up there not so tall over the cab of the truck. I really dont know what to do, I do know that I dont want to pull that thing, it doesnt sound fun thats for sure.

And becouse of that trailers size they are going to give me one ripping price on it, they are having a tough time selling it, now I know why. It is a relly good price all most to good to pass on, but I think a goose neck might look weird on something like that.

feel out the place thats selling it about converting it to a GN. i think that would be a pretty nice set-up but not if it will cost you your warranty! ive never pulled a 5ver, but lots of GN and they are ten times better than a bumper pull!!

The more I have been thinking about turning it in to GN, the more I think it wouldnt be that bad, if done right. I well ask them about the warranty if I convert it to GN, never thought about that, thanks rustyshakelford that was a good idea.
