Smile another diesel fuel thread...

I wonder if the moderators panicked. LOL

I am wondering if anyone RVing has tried a diesel fired furnace or oven like in the marine applications?

Also, after searching with Google I was unable to come up with a response for something else...a diesel catalytic stove top. I saw one on Earthroamer that was a glass top...nice unit. Did not get a reply from there.

I think it would make a lot of sense especially if one could use homebrew Bio and delete the propane. Run the fridge on 12 or 110 volt.

I think the propane is a lot safer.

Those Earthroamers are pretty nice. Though built on a Ford, I think you can specify an F650 (and get a Cummins).

Anyhow, I believe they also run a diesel powered furnace, and electric powered fridge...

Seems to me, though, that the furnace must have a fuel pump that would presumably draw a bunch more power than a propane furnace.

It is the fan that pulls the current on the forced air furnaces. I used to have a sailboat with a deisel heater, it had a small automotive fuel pump that had a minor current draw. The heater was a wall mount with no fan. It did a thermal circulate thing with no fan. It worked great. You could run it for days with 12V.

I guess propane is safer but you still have to drag two fuels.

I was thinking that with the rising costs of fuel [propane included] running veggy homebrew oil would be the way to go. The safety aspect on a marine application might be different then an RV but they sure prefer the diesel heat over the propane. Maybe cuz they are diesel boats?

If I use homebrew fuel to do the heating and cooking, at least it would smell better then diesel fuel too. LOL

With the correct solar panels and batteries, one could run a long time dry camping with this set up.

There are some real efficient fridges out there not too. 12/110 volt.

I wonder if there is a way to run AC off the veggy fuel too? Without a generator?

I had a Beaver motorhome, 425 HP CAT, Diesel generator, and it utilized diesel for both the water heater & heating the coach. It was very economical and got its fuel from the 110-gallon main diesel tank.

You could probably find a tent heater/stove the Army uses at any surplus store. They burn diesel.

Dennis, I want that stove.

They are probably illegal, banned or need to be registered and put in a common safe up here.

LOL

I found the oven/heater/stove and it will fit right in the normal spot for a standard RV stove.
It also has an option for the water heater.
