Al-Ko's are very common. There's a pair under my toy hauler.

Did you need to know something specific about them? They have a good owner/service manual free on their web page.

Click on Owner's Manual for a pdf file.

I guess I should have been a bit more specific about what info I wanted.
I'd like to know if the do their job well and hold up well. I'm looking at buying a trailer (new) that has them and I was not familiar with them.
Thanks and take care.

I have a set on my 5'er. I've never noticed any diffence compared to any other axles. I can get bearings, brakes and seals at just about any auto parts store.

We are one of Al-Ko's largest distributors. You might formally know them as Hayes Axle. Al-Ko is a world leader in trailer suspensions.

In late 2003 and in 2004 model campers, ALKO delivered a bad batch of axles. A number of campers, including mine had eccessive tire wear on the inside. The axles were not properly built which caused the tires to bow out. Mine were 6,000# axles. ALKO did send replacement axles on their dime. They also bought me new tires. I have new axles and they are doing good. It took some wheeling and dealing but they came through. There was a 2 year warranty on the axles.

Log on to RV.net and do a search for ALKO. You should find alot.

Axles

Al-ko axle are made in ChinaNot good quality like when they where made in the U. S. Mine where out of line real bad, wore out one tire from Florida to Mich. Also one axle was 3/4 of an inch shorter than the other one. Dealer in Grand Rapids, Mich. replaced both axles, and took it down to a line up shop for a line up. This was done under warranty. Also they use household lamp cord in the axles tubes from one side to the other for the electric brakes. waam now in Zephyrhills, Florida. Summers in Holland, Mich.

I have Al-Kos on my TT and had the same issue as Kampnnut... Alko sent free axles, but I was on the hook for tires and installation. Seems the later you found out you had the problem , the less they were willing to pony up..

haven't had any real issues with the replacements ..

Uhm, Al-Ko is made in Seminole, Okla or Elkhart, In both are part of the United States.

Go to R. V. Net, Open Roads Forum, click on Fifth Wheels and go down to tire wear and you'll read a lot about Al-Ko alxes. You can call Al-Ko, but don't wait for an answer, it won't happen. Maybe if your a dealer you'll get an answer. waam Holland, Mich.

You probably would not get an answer from Al-Ko if you are from the general public. Not that they do not want to give you a response, but it is not their obligation. Al-Ko is a large manufacturer of trailer components and they have a first line of customer service which are distributors and the trailer manufacturers. It is much like the automotive industry, you would not call Spicer if your axle failed, you would call the dealer. If an issue arises about a product it is then handled between the manufacturer or distributor and Al-Ko. So you are correct the dealer would get an answer and sometimes the end user may get a response, but this is how the system is setup.
