Coachmen just sold out to Forest River on Friday.

 

I just last week found a sweet 36' Travel Supreme 5er. I know everybody has preferences, but I really prefer a rear kitchen-the wife can cook and wash dishes undisturbed while everybody is going in and out,to the bathroom, bedroom, etc. This is a 92 model, clean, ducted heat and air, electric water heater, super slide out, ceiling fan, solid oak cabinets and dining table new tires, and storage out the wazoo. I got it for less than half of the average retail. I sometimes check the local RV parks to see if any units there are for sale. Sometimes you can get a deal if a senior citizen has one, but doesn't have a way to move it. They will often sell, then buy another when they arrive at their new destination. That is how I found mine. I also converted the gooseneck hitches on my flatbed and dump trailers to kingpins, so I don't have to swap hitches.

You could look up NADA values, but I think RVs have also dropped in price quickly when fuel went nuts, and the economy took a downturn.

We just bought a used 08 Montana Mountaineer and really like it. Since I am new to campers I will share what I have learned. I bought our first 5th wheel (2001 Damon Hornet) from eBay. Oops what a mistake that was. It was a good price but had roof leaks and frozen lines, busted water heater which cost us $500.
I traded it in on the Montana. I could have gotten such a better deal IF I did not have a trade in!
Get what you want the first time! Make sure everything works before you buy it! Storage space is important. A roof is good for about 10 years on average and costs big $$$ to replace.
There is a great website for Montana owners but you have to be a member to read anything there. A good place to find answers to problems that you WILL have is priceless.

 

27.5 J Prowler trying NADA and it flips to new/used car.Any help.

No.But I looked it up through NADA.They put lots of wiggle room in there values.Maybe its how its equipped also.Anyhow I talked the owner of the rig and asked him point blank how did he come up with a $15k asking price.He said he asked a buddy that sells cars to come up with a figure.He told him to ask $15k. I can kinda see how he came to that figure.High retail on the truck is about $7k.HIGH retail.Trade in value on the truck is a low of $3500.I can see where the Prowler NADA is a high of $10k and a low of $5k etc.I think $12k to $14k would be a OK buy it now price.The Prowler has been kept under shelter.The truck has not.Owner says he's not driven the truck 8k in two years etc.Truck is a 460.Said he got 8.5 mpg in Montana and 8.5mpg in Florida pulling.Says about 13mpg just normal driving non towing.
