3rd Gen Brake Control install locations

Where are you guys/gals mounting them?

I was thinking of hanging it from the center console recessed area behind my Manual 4WD and *Tissue box* or putting it inside the cubby just below the stereo.

Mine is just under my steering column on the right hand side.

No concerns about knocking your knee into it? I have very nice knees, don't want them scarred up, ya know.

I am 6'4'' and I have only hit my knee once because my seat was up from my wife driving y truck. I mounted it on the left side of my steering column. I like it there, because I can manually hit the brakes in case I have too. I took off the plastic cover and mounted a couple of flat bolts and ran the wires through it. Was easy and looks good.

I agree with left-side mounting. Left hand has it's jobs, and right hand has others. Too much to do when things get hairy.

Are you referring to the area where my adjustable pedal switch is?

Mine is an auto, I just have the manual 4WD, so my right hand isn't very busy.

I checked out different areas of the knee bolster and I think because I'm 5'10" I'm too close seat-wise to it. I think I'm going to have to hang it under that cubby that's below the stereo. Too bad the hazards switch is on top of the steering column.

I'm 6'2" and there is no way I would mount it on the left side... way to much chance of sweeping it with my knee when getting in... Mine is on the right side, and I have never hit it on +7years and 130K...

I'm 6'1", and also have mine on the left side, with no problems.

get a maxbrake or smartbrake and mount it here http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/...rljr48/113.jpg these are the only true proportional brakes made. you never have to touch them and many times safer than the others

Well after fighting the dash for an hour, trying to figure out how to remove the cubby section just above the floor console, I gave in and installed it on the right side of the knee bolster.

The process took way longer than it should have as you'll see below...

I was down to 5 zipties in my garage, I grabbed them all and went to work on installing it. After mounting and routing the wiring I reached for the zipties on my passenger seat to find that my 6yr old daughter who was "helping" me had zipped every one of them all of the way and then took off to play with the neighbors kids.
