I usually run 64mph in the right hand lane...it's too expensive in fuel costs and speeding tickets to "race" along with the crowd down the interstate. As a result, I get to see a lot of vehicles pass me.

One day, I noticed (in my rear view mirror) chunks of rubber flying off a boat trailer (right side tire, single axle trailer). The guy passed me going 75mph plus...

I slowed and gave him room (figuring he would be swerving over any second).

Nope!

The rubber was soon gone (I saw the last of the carcass fly off), the trailer was listing over to the "low" side, and he was still going 75mph...

I lost sight of him about half a mile ahead, still rolling strong on the rim. I expected to find him at the side of the road, but never did.

I guess all this talk about trailer tires is over-rated. Obviously, they're a "luxury upgrade"!

I have had good luck w Commodores on my boat trailer. They were a warranty replacement for c rappy Marathons. So far so good after 5 years but they are ready for replacement on age alone. 4 tires is cheaper than 1 trailer fender in my case.
Struggling with whether to replace tires on my new used 06 sled trailer with orig tires. Almost no miles on them not checked or cracked. Made it 200 mi towing it home. But dang it I've had at least 1 tire per set cut loose at 4-6 years old on every trailer I've had!

You do realize you have to put air in the tires seriously though that's a terrible record. I currently have three trailers and I do get flats from nails but I've never had one blow on me, I check pressures before long trips of 800 miles and compare temps between tires along the way at fuel stops.
