what kinda terrian are you goin gto be in man? i pull in OD all day long unless i drop below 50 then i turn it off pulling grades. but even some grades i can pull strong in OD and my temps dont rise.

go by the gague and it the speed is dropping then drop a gear.

if fluid gets hot drop a gear. etc.....

Most Ive towed with my 93 was a 1800lb camper and a 6k horse setup. ran Od most of the way with good temps. I have both coolers though. youll know when its strugglin. your better off to wind it up a little ,instead of luggin it to much.

I now tow about 11,000# and use OD all the time unless the speed drops below 60 mph, when I switch it out of OD. Been doing this for the last 20,000 miles, and for the 20,000 miles before that, I did the same with an 8,000# trailer. As mentioned previously, if it's a long hill, I also change out of OD if the tranny temps rise above 235F. I change the tranny oil every 10,000-12,000 miles. No problem so far.
