What a bad scene, unfortunately it happens way too often with these newbie drivers. Looked to me like he was going way faster than 70. Great piece of driving by the Wal-Mart driver to avoid getting involved in it.......

He'd be alive if he'd just have slowed down.

Reports are the driver was a trainee and the trainer was in the sleeper . If so the trainer qualifies for a Darwin award . They could have easily caused a couple of more fatalities .

Saw that on another video hosting site but it didn't have the article to go with it. Sad to see stupidity claim another victim. On a side note, I drove up on an accident similar to that last week. Same scenario, truck in the left lane rolled over. The funny part was he was also in a left turn but the truck was mostly in the inside median and laid over on the driver's side. I wish I had seen that one.

The guy in that white Dodge pickup was going to fast as well. The pickup crosses the center lane too. What a mess; man, too bad for the driver and his passenger and their families. I’d hate to see something line that on the highway.

The sad thing is that the co driver that he killed was guilty of only one thing & that was getting some much needed sleep when this dumb nitwit killed him I just hope he didn't leave a wife &/or kids behind.

Tragic for both driver and trainer and my thoughts are with their families.

Here in Colorado we have run away truck ramps for just this reason. This is on Donner pass in Ca. I've never driven this stretch but could it be possible that the truck brakes failed from heat on the down hill, still maybe driver error. The white dodge is trying to get out of the way of the semi and almost skidding in the turn so he's hauling tail. Maybe if there was sound you could hear the horns blowing. I'm sure the investigation will report if there was a brake failure, but that's the way I saw it.

I doubt it was the brakes, the brake lights were not on until he was already on his way over.

I used to run donner about once a week back a couple of decades it just isn't that bad a hill compared to whitebird or fraiser river or some others, what used to bother me about donner was so many fleet trucks that had no jake. But this is another proof that you can come down too slowly as many times as you want you only get to come down too fast once.

Man what a scene!!! I'm curious as to how far down that pass they where?? If they where say 1/4-1/2 way down and the driver had brake trouble starting out, you see brake lights hit on video just before crashing, but what if the driver was on his last atttept to try and slow down. Panicing at that moment, adreninline is pumping through the veins.

When watching the video and brakelights flashed, if the brakes where good, wouldn't they have locked up a tad and start to smoke??
A person really doesn't know unless there is a video in the cab of the victims and outside video the whole time.

It looks as though the load shifted along with being a high profile vehicle causing the crash.

Looks like he was going to fast, hit the brakes too late, and wasn't smooth on the steering wheel. Jerked it once, straightened out, then jerked it again. Not until he was actually flipping over did he stomp on the brakes.
