12ft camper

I've always restricted myself to a 10ft or shorter camper but found a smokin deal on a 1988 12ft for $600!

Unfortunatly I pull my jeep on a trailer. The trailer is about 6500# with the Jeep and gear on it.

Any suggestions on a hitch extension? Needs to be fairly quick to take on and off. I wonder if extended the tongue on the trailer might be a better idea?

Extending the tongue on the trailer is not a good idea. You will ruin both the camper and your trailer when you drive over the first dip in the road.
There are special hitches available for pickups carrying a 12' camper, you will have to replace the one you have, and they are not quick to hook up or remove the drawbar.
Most importantly, add the cost of a dually to the bargain price you got on the 12' camper. You will need a dually to carry it.

Why not buy it and trade up to a 26 or 30 foot gooseneck trailer, then set the slide in on the trailer. Its a little redneck, but the only way to really be able to tow with a slide in and not go over on weights.

Reese Titan or Tork-lift make hitches and extensions. Your stock hitch won't hold that much weight with a 2'-3' extension, that's why I now have a Reese Titan on my truck.

Thanks for the replies, never thought of the dip in the road thing, good point. I've already got a dually so I'm good there. Weird thing is the 12ft is lighter than my old 10ft!

I've often thought about going the GN route but don't have the funds right now for another trailer.

I'll check out the Reese Titan and Torklift. Thanks for the info I've got something to work with now.
