Trying to add pics ...need help with re-sizing

First off...hello to all , I`m a new member here and am trying to put some photos in the "members photos" , but all of my current pics exceed the 500 limit. Is there a way to re-size them so they can be added , or am I going to have to take new pictures?

Thanks for any/all help.

Yes. You can use MS Paint (comes free with Windows) to resize them. Open your pic in MS Paint, click on "images", then "stretch/skew" and put 50% in each of the stretch boxes. Should make them a bunch smaller.

There are other programs that make it much easier, though.

I had always wondered how to re-size pics myself as mine are too large. I tried the above and several different times and still am having no luck. The worst part is it takes a half hour to upload a pic on my dialup before you even get to the point where it says filesize too big. I hate computers..

I got it to work for me , but I didn`t know there was a "waiting period" for your pic. to be O.K.`d?

I feel for those , like yourself that have dialup.

I'll get it figured out eventually one way or the other I am grateful to wannadiesel for the start though. The waiting period thing is so the mods have a chance to make sure your pic is acceptable this being a family friendly website and all. It won't take long they check that stuff periodically throughout the day.

Chris- There are many photo editing programs that make resizing much easier than using MS Paint. Your camera or PC may have come with one. I have an HP laptop, it came with HP Photosmart which is a simple program to use. There are plenty of free ones out there, here's a link to a list.

Pics are usually approved within a couple hours, although if you upload them at 2 AM it might take 5 or 6 hours.

We're looking out for stuff like wildly inappropriate bumper stickers, "things" hanging from the hitch, folks who ought to be wearing more clothes, etc. The vast majority of pics are approved, I think it's been a couple weeks since I denied a pic.

You slowin' down in your old age, Dave?

Seriously, though - XP has a cool little free Power Tool called ImageResizer (521 kb) that adds your choice of file size to the right-click menu for pictures.

I recommend it!

That is exactly what I need. What kills me though is the kodak easyshare software doesn't have anything for changing pic file sizes which almost seems like something that should be pretty much standard issue with any digital phone/software package but I guess it's not.
