Problems replying to PM's

Evertime I try to reply to a PM my computer stops when I hit send. The hourglass comes up and it just sits there. Go to task manager and it says not responding. When I click on end task for the PM it doesn't just take me back to the main page, it throws me completely out of the site. I can come back in no problem and so far everything else works fine. I have tried this response 3 times now and it's the same thing each time. I'm using IE on XP Pro if that makes any difference.

Couple of things to check. First I'd clear cache and cookies and see if that fixes the problem. If not, are you running any type of popup blocker on your system?

Sorry Hoss I tried to reply but after I rebooted my system, well you know.
I am running yahoo anti spy and Ad Aware on this system. Usually every couple of days I delete all the history, cookies and temp internet files I can find along with running adaware and disk cleanup in accessories. I'm not finding anything in the search function for cache, is this a specific file or generic term for all the previously mentioned files. I'm no Guru here. Hoss was testing my abilities when he suggested rebooting, you people and your fancy words.

Let me see if I can help you, I am going to assume you are using Internet Explorer for your browser, although this procedure is pretty much universal in nature with the difference just being in what your browser actually calls the cache.

What we want to do is clear out all the temporary Internet files your browser stores by clicking on "Tools" at the top of your browser and then "Internet Options". When the next box opens delete cookies and delete files under the temporary Internet files. This is your "Cache".

Click on the advanced setting to be sure that your browser is set to "automatically look for the freshest page (newest) page. Close out that box and then close your browser before trying to log on again.

That should fix MANY of the issues you experience when browsing from time to time. I instruct people to do this at least 7 to 8 times a week when they email the web master address with log on or other issues. A very common problem and it has nothing to do with this site, just your browser.

Your browser gets in a rut and doesn't want to load the pages as it should, clearing out all that cache does wonders for your browsing experience on the Internet.

I've been having the same problem trying to post replies to threads.
I'm guessing this reply won't go through, and I've done all the resetting of cookies and clearing of caches, but still doesn't work.

Whoa, it worked.
Maybe it won't if I try to quote the previous thread.

Ok, it's working fine here, and some of the other threads, but I still can't post in the "other" forum.
Can't "moderate" it either by the way.

Problem just started today.

Ok, suddently it fixed itself, I can post in "other" again.
Nothing changed on my end, so it must have been something with the internet of firewall here at work?

These were all the same things I do as a habit other than I checked the box in the advance tab to check for windows updates automatically and I think it's working now. I didn't see a tab to check for updates on anything except windows, so I hope that is the tab you were reffering to. Thanks to all for the help.

Takes a long time or locks up

Is there some reason that every time I try to post or edit a post, in the OTHER forum my compter locks up?
Started around 3:00 A.M. PST
All other sites work fine.
