How do you get the cool pictures, or logos under your user name?

Click on the "user cp" button near the top of your screen, then click on "edit options". Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the button that says "change avatar". Pick one from the list, the admins have disabled custom avatars to save bandwidth.
