Is it odd?

Is it odd to have someone trying to buy something in the classifieds without ever posting anything in the forums?

What type of payment should I except? If they can not do paypal.

Thanks

If they want to send you more money than you are asking and then have you send back the difference, it's a scam. If they want to deal with you through their shipping agent, it's a scam. If they say their late father was a Nigerian government official who left a lot of money in a secret bank account and they need you to help them launder it, it's on the level.

Have the person send you a postal money order (from the U.S. Post office only, not from Western Union or Wal-Mart). Go to the local post office, get your cash, and then ship them the item.

Some people join just to be able to view the Classifieds. It's a good way to find the parts that a person wants/needs.

I guess I should've also said that it's good the be a little cautious. I do the same thing as you did--a little research. If I'm a little leary, I will send the person a few PM's and try to determine if they are legit or not. Can't be to careful these days.

I have bought items throught the classifieds and use M/O. Also sugest you wait till you get cash in hand before sending Items.

Make a long story short I payed for a $3000 4 wheeler and am still waiting for it. So you need to be careful on the other side also. Paypal is one of the best ways to order things, but if they dont have access accept a money order. Talk to the person on the phone so you know they are real also.

There are times when the M/O appears to be legitimate at the bank, and a few days or a week later the bank calls saying there was a problem with it and they are charging your account back. (Don't ask me how I know! ) Be carefull with any transaction. Pay pal is very easy to get an account set up. I accept it exclusively now!
