How about a sticky explaining the virtues of the SEARCH function.

I think alot of question get asked over and over so much that people just stop answering them. It would be easier for newbies to do a search before asking a question to find out if the answer is already there (here) whatever .

But if Noobies search for answers, then how will BigBlue ever reach 10,000 posts?........

that would be great, but no new guys (gals) use the search button. Maybe a few, but the just jump on here and ask. Which is good, but like sidewinder said, people stop answering them...

Two points
1. If your new and haven't had a diesel before you won't know what to search for in the first place. So how do you search?
2." like sidewinder said, people stop answering them..." Exactly why I think that there should be a some area for the new diesel owner, a sort of get you going general information area. just some basics, so that you don't do something that will harm your new diesel truck.
But I also must say that any question that i have asked I have had no problem getting answered. My real concern here is for information that I or some one else might not know to ask because we are so new to diesel ownership.

That has 2 topics for 2nd Gens and 1 for 12 valves though. I think that it might be a good addition to do a sticky for the top of the 12 valve page. I would even be willing to help put it together.

Oh and not all of us "new guys" don't use the search, it is just hard to find exactly what you are looking for sometimes.

Yeah, that's kinda been my problem...not knowing what to search for. I've been reading through posts for about 2 weeks now (since I got the 3500), and I think I've forgotten more than I have learned!

Basically here is what I have come up with so far:
-- There are vents on the top of the fuel tank that are open to the atmosphere. Get some fuel line hose, a tee fitting, and a cheap air\fuel filter, and run the open end of the hose as high as you can
-- Need to get some gauges...pyro & boost (I think) at a minimum (I tow a 31' TT, so I wanna get trans temp also, but need to find a 3 gauge pillar mount that leaves the handle in-tact [don't like the steering column, dash, or overhead mounts that I have seen])
-- Cool down (to ~300*) before shutting down
-- Found out the procedure to get the runtime for the engine

Other than that, like I said, I've read so much stuff, and didn't write it down, but honestly can't remember anything else.

Thanks, guys...
