Who is "Yahoo! Slurp Spider"? Looking at the list, the name shows up numerous times.

Also, instead of listing them by page number, how about being able to search alphabetically?

Yahoo slurp spider is the system that Yahoo uses to index web pages. In terms of Page Number, I'm not sure what you mean.

I've turned this off for now. It's causing quite the load on the server tonight. Of course, it's busy here tonight as well but we'll see how it goes. I may or may not turn it back on.

If I wanted to look for a certain person on the list, instead of going through several page numbers, be able to search alphabetically. No biggie, just a thought.

I'd vote for axing as many "foo foo" features as possible to free up server resources and get rid of the nasty "you have to wait another 2 seconds to search again" feature. To me, it really doesn't matter who is on, who is off, who's been here, personaltiy ratings, etc. I just like the cold hard facts.....searching, reading, and posting.

Thanks for the great site Jack! We appreciate it. There's my $.02.

if folks would stop contributing only $.02 and gave $10, we'd be quickly rid of server resource issues. that is the whole problem.

I think some of the "foo-foo" features make DTR what it is. It makes the site a little more personable then a lot of other sites.

The wait between searches isn't so much a server resources issues, but more of a "screwing over the spammers/hackers" issue. Without the time limit on searches, it would be easy to run a denial of service attack on the board, then we'd all have the DTs from not being able to surf DTR at all.

Bingo.. And it really is a server resource issue. The more hits the SQL database takes, the slower the site becomes. Too many hits and the SQL server goes tango uniform and needs to be restarted.
