Talking Backup Horn "Feature" Fixed on '06!

I was driving on some private roads going slow and watching for wildlife while the seatbelt alarm drove me nuts. I remember reading how to disarm this in the '06 owners manual. I also thought that this may be related to the reverse with door open alarm. I deactivated the BeltAlert and the reverse with door open alarm also was silenced! No more unhappy campers when I'm backing up into camp late at night! From Page 41 of the '06 Owner's Manual - Enhanced Driver Seat Belt Reminder System (BeltAlert)

The BeltAlert can be activated or disabled by your authorized dealer or by the following steps: NOTE: The following steps must occur within the first 60 seconds of the ignition switch being turned to the ON or START position. DaimlerChrysler does not recommend deactivating the Enhanced Warming System (BeltAlert).

1) With all doors closed and the ignition in any position except ON or START, buckle the driver's seat belt.

2) Start the engine and wait for the Seat Belt Warning Light to turn off.

3) Within 60 seconds of starting the vehicle, unbuckle and then rebuckle the driver's seat belt at least three times within 10 seconds, ending with the seat belt buckled.

4) Turn off the engine. A single chime will sound to signify that you have successfully completed the programming.

The Enhanced Warning System (BeltAlert) can be reactivated by repeating the procedure.

NOTE: Although the Enhanced Warning System (BeltAlert) has been deactivated, the Seat Belt Warning Light will continue to illuminate while the driver's seat belt remains unbuckled.

Isn't there also a step 5 where you can press the cruise control button 7 times and receive 40 extra men and a bonus level?

Seriously though, thanks a lot for the info. I read the manual but must of missed that part. That BeltAlert thing drives me nuts!

wow, I'm impressed. This thread has been going for a few hours now and no sign of the internet nannys telling you how "you should always wear your seatbelt" (and a helmet and knee pads, and a fire suit........) Seatbelt chime and dash light was probably the first things I disabled.

Like others have already stated, this doesn't disable the horn, only the chime.

no thanks...

If it wasn't for the backup horn my girlfriend would of let my truck back into a lake at a boat ramp. When I don't want it, I buckle the belt behind me.

Hmm, and you had the door open while you backed? I have the chime disabled on mine but the horn still sounds.
