Problems continue after FSS change
I recently replaced my FSS as outlined in this thread:
https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...riving-324516/ Thanks for the help with that.
However, I have a continuing or perhaps new problem now. The truck is sometimes hard to start but not always. In addition, it seems to have very similar symptoms as I had with the bad FSS with some additions. The truck will still shut off almost without warning and it seems to be getting worse – meaning that it will now do it several times in 4 to 5 miles.
The additional symptoms are a sticking accelerator pedal (with increasing speed) right before the truck dies. And if you touch the pedal the truck dies, but if you don’t I think that it would just continue to accelerate. Basically a runaway. However, now when the truck shuts off if you rapidly pump the accelerator pedal several time it will usually (but not always) restart and continue running with the stuck accelerator pedal.
Since the truck is a 95 and has a TPS I don’t know if the “dead pedal” that plagued the 24V trucks is the same issue? It essentially can’t be driven the way it’s acting now.
Any ideas with this new problem?

When you changed the FSS, do you remember there being a key on the rotating shaft stubbed out the side of the pump? Make sure the bolt sqeezing it is tight?
Your truck has mechanical linkage between the go pedal and the pump, does not have APPS to worry about. But you do have throttle cables that can fray, linkage ball joints that can rust and stick.
I hope it's not the case but could be an internal injector pump problem as well, which would mean rebuild time. Check everything that moves on the outside first.
When it shuts down does the solenoid plunger stay all the way up?

The "key" I'm asking about is on the shaft right above where it says "gov spring cover". Now that I read it again it really sounds like that little arm isn't turning all the way or the rack is getting hung up internally.

You have a throttle issue now, Gorms has pretty well described it, here is the info from the factory recall.
