Well, I pulled the cap and pin out again. The pin was cleaned up, and polished before I put it back together. The witness mark was there again, but not sure if it actually grooved or not. was too disappointed to look.

The fuel pin reservoir or tube had diesel fuel in it. Not a lot, but enough to smell like diesel. Cleaned it out, but I know I'll be pulling the top hat off to replace the fuel rod rubber O ring just as Mr. Jim Lane did in the sticky.

Again, not a lot of fuel in there, but enough to "de grease" the pin.. I may go back to the OEM Pin if I find that the groove gets too deep, and send it back to Gillette.

So I just ordered a Bosch Gasket Kit #DGK-121 from Angelofishes on Ebay.

Bought some other stuff from the guy and it's always been fast ship and OEM Bosch parts. I'm sure this will be no different.

I hated pulling that top hat off, as that spring catching on is a PITA, but I guess I have to go through the motions.... again.

Maybe when I pull the pin out again in a few days, it will have magically sealed itself up.

Not much fuel for driving it about 80 miles or so. Still enough to fix, though

Yes. Runs very well. Nothing over the top, but nice and smooth and sufficient power

Someone posted a few pics of some homemade fan nut tools. This is what I have used for years. It takes 90% of the nuts loose in 5 seconds or less with no skinned knuckles or hands. It uses your air hammer and once in place you use one hand to hold the pulley and one on the air hammer and a few seconds on the trigger.

This isn't fool proof their are always a few that need a pry bar wedged on the bolt heads or pulley somewhere to get nut shook loose but it sure beats any other tool I have ever tried.

Pulled a leaking PTO cover off the G360 and resealed it.

Man the previous owners mechanic sure loved to use RTV, just not correctly.

Edit: Just filled it up and got 6 quarts in thru the top PTO hole. I think the PO filled it completely as it's leaked since day one but was never below the top pto hole line.

Well it was attached to the front bumper directly behind the license plate. The wire lead was ran to a push button switch that was located under the dash of my 1964 Lincoln Conntinental convertible?

Question I have for you is the center of the "thing" made of rubber ? It appears in your picture to be some sort of bellows in between two round discs of steel.

Your car had an optional "automatic headlamp dimmer" as an option. Not sure if it was some sort of mechanical gizmo that actuated it or electric, but if there was some sort of sensor at the front part of the bumper that made the headlamps dim.

Or maybe it was some sort of actuator that flipped the license plate down so you couldn't read it....

Here's some pics from my desert trip Nov.18

The site is called Painted Gorge and is on Interstate 8 just west of El Centro.

Its easy to see how it got its name.

No it's not rubber the black part you see is a wrap or tape of some sort. It's a hollow steel tube in the center. I believe it's wrapped with copper wire to some degree, that piece you see hanging is the wire that I cut.

Good call on the automatic headlight dimmer but this has nothing to do with it as the auto dimmer was a device that sat top and center of the dash. I am amazed that with all the technology that's out their today that such an option isn't in current production cars and trucks.

This thing was bolted directly to the rear side of the bumper and had no way of moving or rotating the plate at all. I really have no idea what it is.
