Ok. I ended up getting the XM Commander from Circuit City since the alpine tuners were going out of my price range on Ebay. After one bad display screen and a broken antenna wire (now soldered together) all the display shows is "NO SIGNAL". ***?? Even in the middle of an open field, it says no signal. I had it activated at about 9 o clock but since I couldn't get signal (before I realized the antenna wire was busted) so I left it off. Do yall think that screwed up the activation? I'm leaving it on right now for the next hour(since it said that's how long it should take to activate) to see if it works. Can antenna wire be soldered together and still be good? The display showed "ANTENNA" before the fix and shows "NO SIGNAL" after. If this doesn't work, I guess I'm gonna have to go buy another antenna. Oh well. Thanks for the help yall.

 

Ok. After an hour of sitting "ANTENNA" is being displayed again. ARGGGHHHH!!! Any ideas? I think I'm gonna buy another antenna tomorrow if I can't figure out what's going on. Thanks for the help yall.

 

When you see antenna in the display 9 out of 10 times it is a bad antenna. When you soldered the wire did you do the center then insulate then the shield?

 

Suspect it will not affect your activation. Did not on my Sirius. I shut mine off for 6 hours (after waiting for 1 hr for activation). When I started it up - activated in about 30 sec.

Well, I ended up buying a new antenna just to rule it out. Plugged it in, had the system reactivated, works like a charm now. I love XM. Sounds so much better than normal radio and so much more to listen to. I haven't turned the comedy stations off at all. Now I just gotta figure out how to program the 30 different presets in.
