Wiring Question

I was looking for easy access to the left and right blinker wires under the dash. I'm trying to install aftermarket blinker lights on the side view mirrors and have gotten the lights installed and wires through the doors and into the cab area (under the dash). Now I just need to tie them in.

1) Should I run wires back out of the cab and to the blinkers lights and splice there?

or

2) Is there wires under the dash that can be indentified and spliced into?

Thanks, Matt ???

Re:Wiring Question

Matt, I have a service manual for my 02 at home. I'll check tonight (later) and edit this reply. I should be able to find which color wire it is for you. If you can't splice it inside the cab, run the wires thru the grommet on the firewall and grab it from within the engine compartment. Have you traced the wire color back from the socket?

Re:Wiring Question

Commatoze - Thanks for your help! I haven't traced the wires back yet. However, it's next on my list. Thanks again. - Matt

Re:Wiring Question

Matt, if the colors are the same as those on an 02, you should be able to find them inside the cab. You can pick them off the bundle coming from the multi-function switch module on the steering column. It's the switch the turn signal stem is hooked to. Here's the wire colors you want to look for:
  • 16 ga. brown with red stripe - Right turn signal
  • 16 ga. dark green with red stripe - Left turn signal

You should be able to access them from under the steering column on the way to the fuse box. Good luck!

Tom
