Will adding a boost elbow help?

Right now all the truck has done is a 4" Silverline exhaust, Superchips tuner set to High-Performance level, and a BHAF. My question is: Will adding a boost elbow incease performance? It should add more boost correct? But if the boost goes over a set point, I think 20 or 21 lbs, wont it through an overboost code? If it does throw an overboost code, will it defuel or hurt performance?

Thanks

Yeah you will get defuling. You would have to have something to keep the computer from seeing the extra boost (I love my 12v) I believe that a few companies make stand alone boost foolers, but I could be wrong.

I'm not familiar with the Superchips tuner, but unless it can reprogram the ECM to allow a higher boost before defueling and setting an overboost code, you'll need a boost fooler to go along with a boost elbow.

Most boxes such as my Edge EZ have a boost fooler function built into them.

I am pretty sure it does not boost fool. I'm not really sure what it does. It came with the truck and SC does not really give a good explanation of what it does.

So if you do throw an overboost code, it will defuel correct?

I beleive it actually alters the timing not the fueling. When I was overboosting and setting codes my black cloud would turn white. It wouldn't happen in the 20-30# range, but it'd stop me cold when I got boost into the 30's.

If you put an elbow on and it threw a code then you could just clear the code with the superchip. If you bought another box or programmer you could have the boost fooled and most come with the boost elbow too. Otherwise you can get a boost fooler from haisley machine for < $100

Ok...thanks for the info. So a boost fooler would work. Do you think it would even be benificial to add more boost with what I have now?

Not sure about the super chips, my van aken took me up to 26 psi w/ the boost elbow. With just the jammer III's I run around 30 psi. I got a boost fooler from BD for around 60.00.
