Will 4th Gen Wheels Fit 97 Ram?
I have an opportunity to get some 4th Gen 17" alloy wheels off a 2010 Ram 2500 Laramie. I have a 97 Ram 2500 4wd with the stock 16"x6.5" steel wheels. Will the 4th gen 17" wheels fit? I found info claiming they have the same 8x165.1mm bolt pattern and 120.9mm center bore hole. What I haven't found is if they will fit over the rear drums and front calipers, is the offset the same or safely close enough, and is there the potential for rubbing if I use 265/70/17 tires(which give me the same diameter as the 265/75/16 tires I'm using now)? If there's anything I'm forgetting, feel free to add. My truck is not lifted or leveled...it's stock suspension. Thanks for the information!

Yes, they will fit. Dodge has had the same bolt pattern since the 60's.
As for rubbing, width will hit the control arms, not diameter....

I am also curious about putting 4th gen wheels on my 2nd gen. The newer trucks have a couple of styles that look nice, but they all look like they are offset inward more than the older trucks. I don't really want to go to the effort of using spacers or anything. Also my truck has never given me a moment's problem with brake pulls, death wobble, or anything like that. I'd hate to start screwing around with the steering geometry now, they are just too sensitive to it.

I bought a set of 4th gen chromed steel wheels with factory tires from a local craigslist seller, 275/70R18
very cheap for my 95 2nd gen 2500 4x4..wheels fit, caliper and drum clearance were fine, but had to use my old lug nuts as the newer nuts were metric, so can't attach the fancy plastic center caps, unless I buy a set that Napa sells for about $3 each..$96? nah..I only paid $300 for all 4 wheels and low mile tires...yes, I am cheap..tires do rub lower control arms when turned hard either direction. My truck might be lifted, seems to sit higher than other Ram 4x4s in town..not sure.

4th Gen Wheels on my 1998 Ram 2500
Picked up these wheels locally last week and installed them on my 1998 using a 2" spacer on the rears. No lifting on this stock Dodge and no rubbing full stop left or right with the larger wheels. Speedo is off 5 MPH otherwise the truck rides nice and smooth.
Spacers are the EECCP bought on the Amazon site.
Hope this helps

Like it was listed above you need to get special lug nuts for the caps to work with them.

I bought a set of 17 inch aluminum wheels and the spare tire that was 17 they came with the lug nuts and center caps . I installed them with not a problem on my 95 4x4 . . I like the looks and want to use them when I install the later model front axle and then install the 3 gen brakes That been a few years since I installed the wheels .
