Widest wheel with a 265?

An uncle of mine had a brand new set of All Terrains on his pickup, and then decided he wanted something more aggressive. He told my 125 for the set, 265/75R16, maybe 200 miles tops on them. I currently have some 315's on what I believe are 16x8 American Racing wheels. I'm gonna check tomorrow with the tire store, as I don't believe the Nitro series wheels were ever offered in a 16x10. Anyways, are 8 inch wide wheels good for a 265? Or will it cause them to wear funny? TIA.

265's came stock on many trucks, and the stock rims were IIRC 8 inches wide.

I was under the impression the widest stock was 7", but may have been wrong. Thanks for the reply.

I could be wrong, wouldn't be the first time.

Steel rims were 7", alloys were 8".

Ok. I will double check with the tire store tomorrow to check the actual width of me wheels. I'm glad to finally be able to get some tires that won't howl like crazy and will stay balanced. Baja Claws look pretty cool, but are annoying while driving.
