I have hammered two single layer filters [in the real world] through snow, rain, dirt, dust and bugs from last summer til now with over 20K on them in the shaker I am testing. Oil analysis with the single layer is as good as anything out there. 5-7 PPM of silicon. The dual layer is getting the same results in the Scotty intakes.

Just to clarify, there are no pleats. There is a coarse outer layer of foam that can be removed and cleaned. The inner layer is part of the main filter housing. Internally there is a wire mesh for reinforcement. Feedback has been that some folks are only cleaning the outer layer on the first cleaning because they are not seeing any discoloration or dirt on the inner layer.

You won't go wrong with any of Scotty's little "inventions". I have had great results from my Scotty II and just recently installed a Smartfuel system on my truck due to less than ideal fuel pressures while towing. Just got back from my first trip with the Smartfuel and I gained 2 lbs of fuel pressure!!

Yes as long as your bird is not attracted to the color red of the outer layer and it does not get jealous of the gray inner filter.
