S&B air filter setup, takes up alot of space and the pleats fill up and clog fast then hard to clean without damaging it

I would say my HTT turbo. Not that it is bad, but I should have went with the twins for my towing application. I also should have went with a higher stall TC.

I believe you have a Gen1 mechanical FI 5.9 This is proabaly the best disel stock motor ever made for durability, simplicity, ease of use.
I would stay stock as much as possible. I understand you can turn up the FP on the pump a little & get a little more power, for low $. The stock air box is probably just fine. Unless you really need way more power, keep it stock. Maybe 1 size over on tires, but, again, the factory had a reason for the size that is stock.
Best Mod for the money- New Bilstein shocks. The differrence will be amazing.
Tires can make a big diffrrence too. A good AT tire will work well all season & off road.
If you tow, a rear stabilizer bar will help too. Air bags if you tow. haul heavy loads.
These are relatively simple trucks. The less you do to them, the more money you can spend where it makes more sense.

Worst for me was pile of GARBAGE AGR steering box. HUGE piece of garbage. Fell apart promptly and took out pump and damaged hydroboost. Then debris kept finding its way to the pump pressure piston causing random brake and steering failures. GARBAGE. They cheaped out on snap rings and bearings and these fell apart several times before I pulled it and smashed it with the dull end of a maul and put in a Delphi box.

I regret the automatic weight reduction feature on the lower part of my doors the most!!!! I shouldn't have let it get so far out of hand.

Would the stock paper air filter be better then a drop in K&N?

I guess I have only one regret and thats the cheaper 409 Stainless exhaust I got from MBRP. I should have just gone with aluminized pipes and not have the rusty mess under my rig. The Salt on the winter roads has really done a number on it. Other than that, pretty happy with all the little tweaks I've done.

Depends; stock filter if you want cleaner air. K&N if you want more air flow.

Well since this thread is back from the dead anyway . . .

I do kinda regret my BHAF though - It sounds awesome, and may never need cleaned driving on the highway, but the cooler air from a cowl fed intake like illflem's home brew or PSM's for sale product would be a better call for mileage and egt.

The BHAF is good for both. Just drill a hole in the cowl and you will be good to go.

eBay stock replacement single-housing headlights for my non-sport. The light pattern sucks worse than stock. Should have just gone with sport headlights at the beginning. Oh, and they are yellowing now.

My least favorite mod was the peak diesel pulling cam when we replaced my motor it is probably great but I did so many things at once there is no way to know how much it helped. Next thing I regret is cheaping out on ARP studs I went back with new cummins bolts after I blew the gasket... never again. OH and be sure and deck the head when replacing the gasket.

I'm amazed at the amount of guys that think a K&N filter is the best thing in the world. I had one on my toyota and could always get a dirty/oily finger off the intake horn no matter how little oil I tried to put on it.

I have had a BHAF on it since 07 and drilled a hole for my filterminder and installed it so I could monitor restriction. It hasn't moved after 50K and the only regret is it pulls down on the underhood blanket.

I think the only thing I regret doing is not putting a FASS or Airdog on it when the LP went out under warranty as now I have the POS in tank pump.

Tax return going for a FASS!!!
