What has Happened

I was driving today to school and i felt a slag on the throttle. i looked back in my rearview mirror and saw a big cloud of white smoke.
So i started to pull over to the side of the road and my motor shut off. My diesel gauge read about 1/4 of a tank. i tried to recrank it but nothing. I thought my lift pump was gone but my friends said no. It turns out that i was way low on diesel. Has this happened to anyone else? I was soo happy to find out that i was out of diesel. I just bought the truck 2 weeks ago and boy did the people i bought it from get some words. LOL
Sorry for the long thread ttyl bye.

Glad to hear that's all it was. I was worried the injection pump might have bit the dust. A faulty fuel gauge on these trucks is nothing new. Mine's off some, thebignasty's doesn't even come close to working, etc. I just go by the mileage on the odometer. Around 350-400 miles I need to start looking for a station.

Just for the fun of it, cycle the key three time, leaving it on, and check your codes.

This is strange, I ran mine a little below 1/8 of a tank while driving through Wyoming a weekend ago (very unusual, I normally fill before 1/4 tank) little light came on but no performance issues

Good to hear that it wasn't anything serious! Even if the lift pump makes 0psi your truck will still run, my buddy's truck had 0psi at idle for about 2 weeks until he bought a FASS. It's funny everyone here says 400ish miles on their tank I go an easy 500 and if I'm careful with the go-pedal I can get over 600...

My truck still has five gallons when the needle is on E. Everytime I get that low, and fill up, I get just a hair over 30 gallons into the tank, filling up to the vent hole in the neck. My 2001 V-10 with the 35 gallon tank was exactly the same. I got lucky.

Thats true on mine too, When I rean it down to just below 1/8 it on took 27 gallons but not a bad thing since the fuel cools the VP

My gauge seems to be totally backwards to everyone else here , if i roll into a station with the needle on E and the orange light on , It's all i can do to put 100L in the tank (130 liter tank).
