Weird downshifting problem
Over the last few months I have noticed a rather annoying issue when I lightly accelerate from a stop. When my truck shifts into 2nd (15-20 mph) sometimes it will downshift into first for a second and then shift back into 2nd and so on...my question is what can cause this. I talked to Goerend he said to check TV cable 1st. I adjusted it a slight bit but it still does it. Can the TPS ground be the culprit or something scarier like seals leaking in the trans. I am still thinking of mounting trans pressure gauges on the A-pillar as i did find a place that carries electrical gauges. So maybe that would possibly give more insight as to what is going on, but if any one has anything for me to check please chime in. Thanks

I know I have heard of this happening but after searching i wasnt able to dig up any threads on it. I will try searching TPS as a keyword.
update: I searched TPS problem threads and everything I found was for 3/4 shifts and lockup problems. I have neither of those problems, lockup is great and it never locks/unlocks. I already have an extra ground on both batts to the frame, that is what cured my lockup issues a while back. So maybe its not in the TPS, could it be something with the Goerend Valve body??? I have had it for about 4 months, it didnt start doing this until about 2 months ago, it only does it maybe 10% of the time but when it does do it I get worried, so any ideas?

Mine does that on occasion when it's cold. It's called shuttle shifting and usually will not hurt anything AFAIK. It can be caused by a sticky governor pressure solenoid. There is a repair for that on dunrites site and usually fixes it.

One other potential reason for this is a misadjusted front band. (even though I don't know why it does it, but I have had several trucks displaying these symptoms and got rid of it by adjusting the bands to specs)
At least it's worth a shot since it only takes some minutes and can'T do any harm.
